The International Mathematical Union (IMU) has signed the declaration ‘Supporting at-risk, displaced and refugee scientists: A Call to Action,’ launched by the initiative – Science in Exile.
The Science in Exile Declaration “Supporting at-risk, displaced and refugee scientists: A call to action” outlines key commitments necessary at global level for both immediate and long-term support and protection to scholars and scientists who are at-risk, displaced or refugees, so as to build a better future for them, science and society at large.
The initiative came from the International Science Council(ISC).
Specifically:
The Science in Exile mission is to enhance the work and lives of at-risk, displaced, and refugee scientists globally.
The Science in Exile vision is an active international movement which promotes the protection of scientists, leading to better science and contributions to humanity.
The Declaration was launched on 20 April 2022 at the online event “A Call for Action to support at-risk, displaced and refugee scientists. Launch of the Science in Exile Declaration“.
