Workshops will assist scientists in developing countries to access and analyze astronomical data for their research.
As announced in March this year, the International Astronomical Union is launching a new initiative called IAU Hands-On Workshops (I-HOW). In this programme, young scientists in developing countries will learn how to access and analyse archived astronomical data for their research. They will then be able to use these data to conduct original projects with the supervision of expert lecturers.
The IAU has now opened a call for applications to hold workshops under the I-HOW initiative in 2022. Proposals to organise one of these workshops should be submitted by completing the application form provided on the website and sending it by email to one of the members of the I-HOW Steering Committee (listed on the same webpage).
The deadline for applications is 31 January 2022.
More information on the motivation and format of the initiative, as well as the procedure and selection criteria for workshops, is available on the I-HOW webpage.
This application call was first published by IAU.
