A ‘National System of Higher Education’ has been created by the Russian government. But it will only be open to interaction with countries and institutions friendly to Russia.
Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, Dmitry Afanasiev, at a plenary session as part of the opening of the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development, IYBSSD2022, said that the creation of a national system of higher education in Russia does not imply its isolation.
“When we say that we want to create a nationally oriented higher education system, we are not building an isolated system. It is open for interaction, cooperation and cooperation with all those countries, institutions, educational institutions, universities, scientific organizations, people who are friendly towards us, who are ready to continue this work with us,” said the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education.

He also stressed that the education system in Russia should not be guided by external templates. “We must build that system of levels, standards, content of education, methods of education, educational organizations that serves the interests of our country,” Afanasyev added.
