“The driving force in advancing and globalizing nation’s academic activities in science and technology”
KAST is the institution with the most distinguished scientists in Korea
KAST contributes to progressing science in Korea supported by its members’ exceptional professional expertise. Its members are elected by peers in recognition of distinguished achievement in their respective fields in both Korea and international communities.
KAST is the driving force in advancing and globalizing nation’s academic activities in science and technology.
KAST strives to raise the country’s science and technology to world-class levels by carrying out roles as a nongovernmental diplomacy. KAST works well with international science academies and distinguished foreign associates. One good example is that the Association of Academies and Societies of Science in Asia (AASSA)’s secretariat is collocated with KAST and it is being managed by KAST. It introduces important issues, top research topics and trends from around the globe to the nation by applying its ability to foresee current and future issues.
KAST is a nongovernmental academic institution dedicated to research, evaluation and consultation for national science and technology policies
As an independent, autonomous, nongovernmental academy, KAST impacts the policymakers to make sound decisions by providing professional evaluation and expert consultation and suggests innovative vision for advancement of science and technology commensurate with the 21stcentury.
KAST plays a major role in promoting public understanding in matters of science and technology and in creating a social climate where scientists and engineers are respected
KAST works hard to instil interest and pride to general public (especially young generation) in excellence of our scientific and technological achievements through public lectures and various promotional activities to create a positive social climate for scientists and engineers.
