The Transatlantic Big Science Conference
In close coordination with the Helmholtz Association and together with the U.S. Carnegie Institution for Science, the research center DESY has launched the initiative of a “The Transatlantic Big Science Conference” (TTBSC).
The initiative is driven by the idea that transatlantic science relations need to be refocused and strengthened to better respond to specific global challenges:
– impact of climate crisis;
– dealing with pandemics;
– lack of trust in science;
– as well as the impact of geopolitical tensions on international science cooperation, especially emphasizing a new role and need for science diplomacy.
It is a high-level conference and will bring together scientific, industrial, and policy leaders from the North America, Europe and internationally to chart a science roadmap for the coming decades in a new geopolitical context.
