The passage through the research career to the management position of a research group is an arduous process for which there is no adequate training. In our country, there is no specific program to cover this need and the lack of training generates problems and affects the effectiveness of research personnel throughout their professional career.

With the aim of offering the content and skills necessary to lead a group successfully, we have designed a specialization course that addresses all these aspects in a comprehensive manner. It will cover essential topics for which there is no existing teaching program. This course is designed to be useful at various stages of the professional career, from those who are starting their PhD to those who are looking to consolidate their research.

Among the topics to be covered we can highlight: the various stages of the career, the choice of the problem to be investigated, the gender perspective, project development and the connection between research and the business world.

This initiative is vital for basic sciences and for sustainable development, it is an important aid for researchers to be better prepared to be leaders, which will undoubtedly help them to do better science, both basic and applied; and a higher quality science with great capacity to generate impact on the general society will help to a better sustainable development.
