To highlight the role of basic sciences in promoting sustainable development and work in line with the activities of IYBSSD-2022, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), National Natural Science Foundation of China, Ministry of Education of China, Ministry of Science and Technology of China as well as Beijing Municipal Government will co-host the International Forum of Basic Sciences, Science & Technology and Innovation (STI) and Sustainable Development on September 23, 2022.

The theme of this international forum is not only to show that basic science is an indispensable condition for sustainable development, but also to make scientists, policy-makers, entrepreneurs and the general public fully aware of the importance of basic science, and that major research results in basic science can bring about profound changes in productivity and great progress in society human welfare. At the same time, the forum will further promote the original role of basic science and research in solving global problems that human society are currently facing, such as public health, climate change, energy and food security.
