CERN strives to deliver world-class scientific results and knowledge, while embedding environmental responsibility and sustainability in its activities that also include future accelerator studies. This talk by Sonja Kleiner will present CERN’s approach for environmentally responsible research and will outline current projects aimed at minimising the impact of the Organization on the environment, targeting both its scientific facilities, for example the Large Hadron Collider and its experiments, and its site and conventional facilities.
Sonja Kleiner is the Head of the Environment Group within the Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Protection Unit (HSE) at CERN. The Group is in charge of assessing the impact of the Organization on the environment and reporting the results to the Host States Authorities and to the public. The Group also provides advice and support to CERN Departments in matters of environment.
