National Mathematics Day is an occasion to remember Ramanujan’s great achievements and reflect on the significance of mathematics in our everyday lives. He is considered as one of the world’s greatest-ever mathematicians, proving over 3,000 theorems. In order to inspire the life and his golden achievements of this mathematics genius to the younger generation, the Govt. of India has announced 22^nd December to be celebrated as National Mathematics Day since 2012.

His major contributions to number theory, infinite series, mathematical analysis, etc., are considered instrumental. Mathematics Day is marked to celebrate his works and recognize him as a legend in mathematics.

Mathematics subject is an important part of everybody’s life. It is used as a lifelong tool to excel in any work and project. Different qualities are nurtured by learning maths, such as creativity, reasoning, abstract thinking, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities and good communication skills.

In view of the above, GUJCOST is going to celebrate the National Mathematics Day on 22nd December 2022 at Indian Institute of Teacher Education (IITE), Gandhinagar in collaboration with National Council for Science, Technology and Communication (NCSTC), Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.

Each of the Regional Science Centres and Community Science Centres will celebrate the National Mathematics Day by conducting workshops and interactive sessions in their respective districts of the State. GUJCOST has proposed various activities for the celebration of National Mathematics Day 2022 are as follows:

1. Screening of the Movie -“Journey of Ramanujan”
2. Activity on Magic Numbers
3. Maths for Future
4. Field Medal Gallery at RSC Bhuj
5. Workshop/Interaction with Mathematics
6. Competition on mathematic Puzzle and Games
7. Math Fair (Fun with Math)

This program will be participated by more than 7,000 students, teachers and science communicators across the State that will also be highlighted on print, electronic and social media appropriately.
