Brain Awareness Week
Brain Awareness Week (presented by the Nelson Mandela University Neuroscience Team & Human Physiology Department (Faculty of Science))
The Human Physiology department and Neuroscience Research Team will co-facilitate 2023 Brain Awareness Week (BAW) from 13th – 15th March 2023. The general aim for the 2023 BAW project is to raise awareness about brain function, health, and disease among the public within Nelson Mandela Bay metropolitan municipality. The planned activities for this week include the following:
– A Neuroscience-based seminar on Tuesday 14th March 2023 from 1 – 2pm. Prof Petra Kluger from Reutlingen University will present a face-to-face lecture on “The potential of tissue engineering in brain physiology”.
– Advocacy visits to Secondary Schools on Monday 13th March and Wednesday 15th March 2023. The aim is to educate high school students about the dangers of substance abuse and its implications on brain functions and health. For each advocacy visit, there will be two short talks (to be presented by Honors/Masters students) followed by a Q&A.
